Kinesiology Testing

The human body can be compared to an intricate piece of electrical equipment controled by an incredibly complex central computer - the brain.  In fact, the brain continually communicates with all of the 639 muscles in the body.  If a muscle is in electrical balance, it is possible to measure the constant electrical signal between the brain and that muscle and back again.  But when the body is stressed (chemically, emotionally or physically), the electrical signals between the brain and the muscle falter.  The brain and the muscle cannot communicate properly and the body shuts down that muscle or even a group of muscles, causing imbalances in muscle function.  When unresolved, body imbalances accumulate, eventually causing pain, distress, allergies and sometimes disease.

This is the basis for kinesiology testing.  The word kinesiology means the science of movement.  Kinesiology testing involves the simple, gentle, non-intrusive testing of muscles to analyze and assess body function in order to locate imbalances within the entire body.  Light pressure is applied to a muscle and the response is monitored.  In fact, there is a close association with specific muscle dysfunctions and related organ or gland dysfunctions.  Once the stresses have been identified, then a course of treatment can be determined to bring the body back into harmony with itself.

At Alternative Health Associates, we use kinesiology testing in conjunction with other diagnostic assessments and therapies.  During a kinesiology session, Dr. Kopin places your arms, legs or head into specific positions and then applies light pressure.  The quality of response to this pressure determines whether there is an imbalance.  Based on the feedback from this muscle test, Dr. Kopin can discover the exact nature of your imbalance and generate an appropriate treatment plan.  This may include nutritional supplements, aromatherapy, reflexology or suggested lifestyle changes.
