Far Infrared Therapy (FIR)
Far Infrared Rays (FIR) are a part of our natural environment. For example, as part of the natural light spectrum of sunlight, 80% of the sun's non-harmful rays are infrared. The human body radiates infrared energy out through the skin. Whether we are indoors our out in the direct sunlight, we are surrounded by infrared light. On the other hand, far infrared light rays are invisible to the naked eye; although we can't see the light rays, we can feel them. For example, on a bright, sunny day when the air is cool, stand in the direct sunlight and feel the warm rays on your skin - the heat you feel is created when the rays of far infrared light enter your body. Radiant heat or infrared energy warms objects without warming the air between the source and the object.
The health of our whole bodies depends on the movement of blood and energy. Far infrared rays are totally invisible (to the naked eye) waves of energy capable of penetrating deep into the human body, where they gently elevate the body's surface temperature and activate major bodily functions, increasing metabolism and blood circulation. In fact, far infrared therapy in the form of sweat inducement has been utilized by various cultures for hundreds of years, including Chinese, Japanese and Finnish sauna and steam baths, as well as Native American sweat lodges. The idea is that the artificial elevation of body temperature results in improved health and relief from disease.
At Alternative Health Associates, we employ a similar approach. Using a specially designed FIR sauna, Far Infrared Therapy works as infrared rays are emitted from coils from within sauna walls, penetrating into the skin and cells, heating deep in the muscular tissues and internal organs (to a depth of over 1 1/2"). When the frequency of the far infrared matches the frequency of water in the cells, toxins are dropped off into the blood stream and excreted in sweat, feces and urine.
FIR stimulates the body to release fat-soluble toxins, heavy metals and other toxic chemicals. Other benefits include immune system enhancements, cardiovascular conditioning, pain relief and control, and musculoskeletal improvements. |
