It is my opinion; most Americans will pay for this new health care reform. Nothing is free. The plan will cost approximately $ 940 Billion over the next 10 years. We will see increases in our taxes over the next 10 years. Did President Obama do a good job?
After reading several news articles, staying involved with a Congressman's health advisory board, attending the World Health Congress Leadership Summit, and providing education to the communities on U.S. Health Care, this past year, I am clear that we needed a change, I am clear that the public wanted change, but is this the BEST we could do ? Is this plan equal to all? As a health care doctor, I wonder each year, will I survive another year; will my business survive this health care change? Here are some facts; the plan will assist lower income families. Most of the public will be taxed 9.8% of our income or 3% if you make under $ 29,000. People making over $ 200,000 will have to be taxed more. What ever happen to taxing a flat tax so everyone pays an equal share across the board? In my opinion, this appears to be most fair, no matter what your income may be. Beginning 2014 we will be required to purchase insurance, if you want it or not. Otherwise, pay a penalty. Is this freedom of choice? You may choose to use the religious exemption not to obtain insurance. I did read that within the plan children will receive Well Care at 100%. That may good, but what is considered well care for children? I believe vaccines will be considered well care, how do you feel about well care vaccines? Is this well care? You make that opinion on your own. Also, Health Industries, medical device manufacturers, indoor tanning, and employer sponsored health plans, drug manufactures, and will all be taxed. We will see future cuts in Medicare, and home health care. Most senior Medicare clients I know today have to purchase a 2nd insurance, because Medicare pays a percentage of all health care costs. What will happen to our seniors? Will the health plan include Alternative Health Care or Alternative Deliveries who educate vs. medicate. Will they recognize alternative approaches which can provide simple and affordable care, natural remedies that are less costly to the public? I believe today's market place wants this, but will this too be regulated. In fact, 90% of the U.S. diseases are reversible and preventable, why are we not focused in the direction? Even though, President Obama speaks of well care and prevention, we are still focused on sick care. Why do we as a country constantly look at how we can work within a sick care model and not a well care model?
